This weekend the co-chairs of the Franco-British Council Lord Ricketts and Hervé Mariton were in Jersey for a series of engagements to mark Liberation Day
They were hosted at Government House by the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey, Vice-Admiral Sir Jerry Kyd KBE and met with The Chief Minister of Jersey, Deputy Lyndon Farnham, and Minister for External Relations, Deputy Ian Gorst.
Lord Ricketts and Hervé Mariton attended the Liberation Day Ceremony led by The Bailiff of Jersey, Robert MacRae KC, and a wreath laying ceremony at The Slave Workers’ Memorial in Westmount.
They also took part in a discussion with local organisations on historical commemorations.
Lord Ricketts also held a discussion with public service workers on current global affairs.
The German Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Susanne Baumann, and the Estonian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sven Sakkov, also attended the commemorations.

Ce week-end, les copésidents du Conseil franco-britannique, Hervé Mariton et Lord Ricketts étaient à Jersey pour une série d’événements organisés à l’occasion de la Journée de la Libération.
Ils ont été reçus à Government House par le lieutenant-gouverneur de Jersey, le vice-amiral Sir Jerry Kyd KBE, et ont rencontré le ministre en chef de Jersey, le député Lyndon Farnham, et le ministre des Affaires étrangères, le député Ian Gorst.
Lord Ricketts et Hervé Mariton ont assisté à la cérémonie du Jour de la Libération, présidée par le bailli de Jersey, Robert MacRae KC, ainsi qu’à une cérémonie de dépôt de gerbe au Mémorial des travailleurs esclavagistes à Westmount.
Ils ont également participé à une discussion avec des organisations locales sur les commémorations historiques.
Lord Ricketts s’est également entretenu avec des fonctionnaires au sujet de l’actualité internationale.
L’Ambassadrice d’Allemagne au Royaume-Uni, Susanne Baumann, et l’Ambassadeur d’Estonie au Royaume-Uni, Sven Sakkov, ont également assisté aux commémorations.
