On the third day of the programme, the Young and Local Leaders visited the Young Talents programme at Sports dans la Ville, which uses sport to support personal development for young people from priority neighbourhoods. This was followed by a fascinating meeting with Laurent Fabius, president of the Constitutional Council, held at the British Ambassador’s Residence.
The Young and Local Leaders were then treated to lunch at the Senate, hosted by Eric Bocquet, Senator for the Nord département and chair of the Franco-British Friendship Group, and Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam, Senator for French citizens abroad and member of the Franco-British Council in France. Over lunch, the Young Leaders had a stimulating discussion on Franco-British relations with Sophie Pedder, Paris bureau chief for The Economist.
This lunch was followed by a meeting with Roxanne Varza, Director of Station F, where the Young Leaders heard about the rapidly growing start-up ecosystem in France
In the evening, the Young Leaders had a discussion on Afghanistan with General Nicolas Le Nen and Catherin Jentile, senior reporter and head of the Washington bureau for TF1, held at the British Ambassador’s Residence. This was followed by a reception and gala dinner hosted at the same location by Her Excellency Mrs Menna Rawlings CMG, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the French Republic.
Au troisième jour du séminaire, les Young et Local Leaders ont visité le programme Young Talents de Sports dans la Ville, qui se sert du sport afin de transmettre des valeurs importantes pour le développement personnel pour les jeunes issues de quartiers prioritaires. Cela fut suivi d’une rencontre fascinante avec M. Laurent Fabius, président du Conseil constitutionnel, qui eut lieu à la Résidence de l’Ambassadrice britannique.
Les Young et Local Leaders furent ensuite accueillis au Sénat par M. Eric Bocquet, sénateur du Nord et président du Groupe d’amitié franco-britannique, et Mme Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam, Sénatrice des Français établis hors de France et membre du Conseil franco-britannique en France. Au cours du déjeuner, les Young et Local Leaders eurent une discussion stimulante sur les relations franco-britanniques avec Sophie Pedder, chef du bureau parisien de The Economist.
