The Franco-British Council and the Government of Jersey are delighted to announce a new five-year partnership for the period 2025-2030 as part of working together to enhance Franco-British cooperation.
The Government of Jersey will participate in all activities of the Franco-British Council including Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability, Defence, Science and Society, and with a particular focus on the Franco-British Young Leaders Programme.
This partnership includes two annual places on the Franco-British Young Leaders Programme for young professionals with connections to Jersey. The selection process will follow the same criteria and be overseen by the secretariat of the Franco-British Council.
Young people with connections to Jersey will also be eligible for the Franco-British Local Leaders Programme.
In addition Jersey will host visits and events in partnership with the Franco-British Council to promote Jersey’s deep-rooted Franco-British ties.
The Council was founded in 1972 on the joint initiative of President Georges Pompidou and Prime Minister Edward Health, in a context of a developing Europe and of an increasingly globalised community. Since then, it has dedicated itself to the promotion of a better mutual understanding and the development of joint action through bringing together leading representatives of the worlds of culture, politics, defence, science, education and business.
Lord Peter Ricketts, Chair of the Franco-British Council in the United Kingdom, said, “Given Jersey’s close ties of history and geography to both the UK and France, it makes every sense that we put the partnership the Franco-British Council has already begun to build with the Government of Jersey onto a longer-term footing. We are excited to work with the Jersey team on a wide range of subjects.”

Le Conseil franco-britannique et le gouvernement de Jersey sont heureux d’annoncer un nouveau partenariat quinquennal pour la période 2025-2030, dans le cadre du renforcement de la coopération franco-britannique.
Le gouvernement de Jersey participera à toutes les activités du Conseil franco-britannique, notamment dans les domaines de l’énergie, du changement climatique et du développement durable, de la défense, des sciences et de la société, et plus particulièrement au Programme des Young Leaders franco-britanniques.
Ce partenariat comprendra deux places annuelles au Programme des Young Leaders franco-britanniques pour les jeunes professionnels ayant des liens avec Jersey. Le processus de sélection suivra les mêmes critères et sera supervisé par le secrétariat du Conseil franco-britannique.
Les jeunes ayant des liens avec Jersey seront également éligibles au Programme des Local Leaders franco-britanniques.
De plus, Jersey organisera des visites et des événements en partenariat avec le Conseil franco-britannique afin de promouvoir les liens franco-britanniques profonds de Jersey.
Le Conseil franco-britannique a été créé en 1972 sur une initiative conjointe du Président Georges Pompidou et du Premier Ministre Edward Heath, au moment de l’adhésion du Royaume Uni à l’Union Européenne et dans un contexte de mondialisation grandissante. Depuis, il s’est consacré à la promotion d’une meilleure compréhension entre les deux pays et au développement d’actions communes en rassemblant les personnalités des secteurs culturels, politiques, économiques, de la défense, de l’éducation et de la communauté scientifique.
Lord Peter Ricketts, président du Conseil franco-britannique au Royaume-Uni, a déclaré : « Compte tenu de nos liens historiques et géographiques si étroits avec le Royaume-Uni et la France, il est logique que nous collaborions avec le gouvernement de Jersey afin de promouvoir une collaboration étroite entre nous tous. Nous nous réjouissons de collaborer avec eux. »

Député Ian Gorst, ministre des Relations extérieures du gouvernement de Jersey, a déclaré :
